Maryport Matters

What is Maryport Matters?

Maryport Matters is a free, full colour, community magazine which serves residents from the town and the surrounding areas including Flimby, Dearham, Crosby, Crosscanonby and Broughton Moor. It provides news and original features to inform, connect and empower residents as well as celebrating community achievements.

  • How much is it?

  • How can I get one?

There are 8,000 copies of each edition printed, the majority of which are delivered FREE direct to people’s homes.

If you live in Maryport, Broughton Moor, Crosby, Crosscanonby, Dearham or Flimby you should get a copy delivered through your letterbox. Unfortunately, this is not an exact science and sometimes houses can get missed out. If you would like a copy, please contact us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call in at Ewanrigg & Netherton Community Centre. Alternatively, copies are also available to pick up from selected local community venues.

  • Who runs it?

Maryport Matters has been set up by people living and working locally and is managed by the Ewanrigg Local Trust.

  • How often does it come out?

Currently there are 4 editions a year:

    Spring (March – May)

    Summer (June – Aug)

    Autumn (Sep – Nov)

    Winter (Dec – Feb)

  • How do I get something in the magazine?

We value the views and opinions of readers and encourage submissions and contributions from all sectors of the community.

We are always on the lookout for stories about people in the area, celebrating achievements as well as signposting to services and opportunities. Please provide approx. 150 words of copy including details of who, when, where, why, what and how much. And include a lovely hi res image with a caption saying who is in the picture. We want to feature as many smiley faces in the magazine as possible. We love to see real people doing real things. There is no cost to you if we include your stories etc. in the magazine.

In addition to the newsy stuff, if you want to send in any recipes, puzzles, pictures or reviews for the regular platforms then please do so – we also welcome any new ideas for features or platforms that would add something extra.

Please note that although we will try and feature as many articles as we can, space is obviously limited, and we cannot feature everything. If your article follows the guidelines listed above AND includes a picture it has more chance of getting in. Articles received after deadline may not be accepted. Inclusion is subject to availability and is at the discretion of the editor.

  • Can I pay for advertising?

Yes. The magazine is not for profit and the advertising goes towards printing and distribution costs.

If you would like to guarantee space in the magazine there are several cost-effective advertising options. Ads are sold on a first come first served basis. Rates start from as little as £15 – please see the media pack for further details or please contact us on 01900 819575 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
